I Love You All The Numbers
A Carer's Story
A story of love; the emotive narrative offers laughter, sadness and “ah-ha” moments. Eschani takes you through the ever-changing landscape of her husband’s dementia, with the extra complication of heart disease. Eschani also includes self-help sections about how to deal with one’s own struggles in the world. There are everyday strategies to dealing with stuff like the red-tape obstacles and day-to-day challenging occurrences.

There were days when Geoffrey was fairly normal, and my denial kicked in again. Then, within a day or two, I’d find my kitchen utensils in with the pots and pans, or my knife-block knives in one of the drawers or with the cups. Reality would hit anew – sadness, disbelief, frustration, anger, disappointment, and more.

It is useless to try to take responsibility for someone else. We only need to take responsibility for ourselves. We can assist. We can support. Ultimately, though it is for each one of us to take responsibility for ourselves.
A resource
My hope is that as well as being a helpful resource for others caring for loved ones with dementia, I wish for people to understand how much more there is to dealing with someone with dementia long before they get to the stage of not knowing/remembering who you are.
I also hope readers will see my ‘Insights’ sections of the book, should they choose to take on the lessons, as a means to improving their own lives.
